What is a Swiss Lathe?
Our lathes are the same style as the Swiss machines that were previously used to build Swiss wristwatches. This tells you a little more about just how small and precise our machines can run. Our machines allow us to comply with tolerances down to +/- .0001. We are able to incorporate delicate detail, even on the smallest of parts.
We run mostly Citizen Swiss CNC lathes, but we also have Tsugami, Meier, and Hanhwah machines as well. Our CNC Swiss screw machines allow for machining longer parts by eliminating the deflection of the material. Swiss machines support the bar as close to the tools as possible, which causes the piece to be rigid, allowing the tools to work without pushing the material away.
Swiss machining is subtractive manufacturing. Our automatic bar feeders supply the machine with a bar of material. The machine then rotates the bar, giving consistency and precision from every side, while the cutting tools create your design. All of our CNC Swiss machines have live milling capabilities, allowing complex parts to be manufactured complete. All of our Swiss type lathes have automatic bar feeders to load material automatically, allowing our machines to run 24 hours a day without constant operator intervention. These efficiencies allow us to provide our customers with high quality components at a competitive price. Throughout the entire process: your drawings, specifications, and intended use for the part is our highest priority.
